Fixing Broken Software$75/hrIn
the movies, you will see somebody go visit a computer geek who starts
hacking away at a computer, opening different screens and running
diagnostics on your computer without ever popping in a CD or thumb
drive. That's a Hollywood geek. In real life, 98% of geeks
don't know how to fix your software. Another 1% works for the company
that made the software. The other 1% has way too much time on their
hands. When you hire a tech to fix software, like your
accounting software, your productivity software, or game, he or she
doesn't know what the cause of the problem is. When you
request software service, you are paying a geek to conduct research to
see what other people have done to fix the problem, or call tech
support. Most of the time, your money is well spent calling
tech support with the company that made the software. If this is not
something you want to do, somebody like me can do it for you. You are
better off having a geek like me call tech support for your software. A
computer tech can probably run through the troubleshooting steps much
faster and effectively than a non-techie. |
